DCA, a creative communications consulting firm based in Downtown Memphis, has announced new departments and welcomes new and elevated roles to its staff.

Leah Gafni joins DCA as Vice President of Strategic Activations. Gafni most recently served as Vice President of Marketing for Memphis Tourism, the official destination marketing organization for Memphis and Shelby County. Leah helped lead the organization’s comprehensive digital marketing and influencer relations efforts to promote Memphis to visitors across the globe and remind locals of what they have in their own backyard. At DCA, Leah will activate and lead client brand extension opportunities, including festivals, fundraisers, and newly formed ventures.

“Historically, we have successfully explored and created new avenues for the organizations we represent,” said Doug Carpenter, principal and executive creative director of DCA. “As we continue to establish events, programs, and rituals for the communities our clients serve, the timing felt right for Leah to lead this dedicated DCA department.”

Cara Greenstein, who has been with DCA since 2014, assumes the role of Vice President of Public Engagement. A media relations and social media specialist—who also owns award-winning food and lifestyle brand Caramelized—Cara oversees the intersection of earned and owned media storytelling and strategy for DCA’s clients.

“Cara comes to the office each day challenging both our team and herself to explore new mediums, consider new approaches, and create new opportunities,” continued Carpenter. “It is clear that the work we do far exceeds merely PR or social. It’s about the interaction of and engagement with all the ingredients in our toolkit, so to speak. We’re continuing to grow the category.”

Houston Cofield, award-winning commercial and editorial photographer, has been named Photographer in Residence at DCA. Cofield, who continues to work as an independent photographer for national publications from The New York Times to VICE and Garden & Gun, will support DCA’s visual storytelling for its client roster. He will be based at DCA’s office in 11 West Huling and elevate activity within its photography studio.

“I’ve always admired Houston’s eye and human-focused photography,” said Carpenter. “We’re thrilled to add his skillset to our in-house photography and videography capabilities.”
